Récit d'un voyage en Russie assez dépaysant quand on est de l'Europe de l'Ouest...Saint-Pétersbourg ou la ville la plus riche de Russie historiquement parlant.

Story of a travel in Russia relatively exotic when we West-European...Saint-Petersburg or the richest city in Russia historically spelling.

Tout commence le jeudi matin quand on toque à la porte de l'appart, ou plutot lorsqu'on tape ! On est "un peu" à la bourre puisque le bus va partir dans quelques minutes !! Départ de Lappeenranta vers 9H00 sous un beau soleil automnal, direction la frontière russe qui n'est qu'à 30 km.
Après un pré-contrôle des visas par un douanier russe "très militaire", on passe au 2ème poste de pré-contrôle sans rien nous demander. Viens ensuite la frontière proprement dite, on descend du bus pour 15 min pour le contrôle finnois. On bascule du côté russe, on descend du bus pour 20 min pour le contrôle russe beaucoup moins rapide dans des bâtiments plutôt rustiques...le décor est planté. On rajoute une heure pour être dans le bon fuseau horaire. Les 2 autres post-contrôle sont passés sans que l'on nous demande rien.

It begins thursday morning when someone is knocking a our door, or rather hit the door ! We are in a "little tiny bit" hurry as the bus is leaving in few minutes !! We start from Lappeenranta at approximately 9:00 with a beautiful autumn sun, we drive direction the russian border which is only 30 km far away.

After a pre-check of visas by a russian customs officer which is "very military", we drive trough the 2nd check-point without asking us something. Then comes the real border, we leave the bus for 15 min for the finnish check. We cross the border and another 20 min check on the russian side this time. Building are not really welcoming...the stage is set. We add an hour at our clock to be on the actual time zone. The 2 others post-check are crossed without issues.




Sur la route, ça roule vraiment n'importe comment j'adooore : normalement y'a 2 voies mais là ça passe à 4 tant qu'il n'y qu'un camion...sinon ça passe pas et c'est parfois mouvementé ! On aperçoit de vieux véhicules de l'ère soviet, c'est très dépaysant !

On the road, people drive no matter how, I likkkke it : usually there is only 2 ways but 4 vehicles can drive side by side while there is no truck...in this case it's not working and this create something  action ! We can see old vehicle from the soviet era , it's very exotic !

Saint-Pétersbourg nous voilà. On traverse la ville, on emjambe plusieurs ponts sur la Neva (rivière qui vient du Lac Ladoga, le plus grand d'Europe, et qui se jette dans la mer baltique).
On se retrouve bloqué dans les bouchons...classique de la ville apparemment, pourtant il est 15H. 45 min après on arrive à l'hotel Ibis ***.

Saint-Petersburg here we are. We drive through the city, over several bridges on the Neva (river who comes from Lake Ladoga, the biggest in Europe, which goes in the Baltic Sea).
We get stacked in the traffic jam...usual in the city apparently, though it's just 3 p.m. 45 min after we arrive in the Ibis hotel ***.

Des roubles

Ce soir c'est diner russe avec spectacle de musique folklorique : cadre plutôt huppé, grande table, grand verre. On commence par une entrée avec un "truc" à la betterave à peu près mangeable (pour moi qui n'aime pas la betterave). On mange un velouté au champignon, puis viens le bouillon aux légumes. Le plat principal est bon mais ne présente pas bien : genre d'omelette aux champignons et à la viande. Crêpe avec une boule de glace au dessert.

This night it's russian diner with folk music show : big table, big glass, cosy place. A beetroot stuff  eatable ( as I don't really like beetroot) for th starter. Then comes a mushroom smooth and vegetable soup. The main course is good but is bad looking : kind of omelette with mushroom and meat. Crêpe with an ice ball in dessert.


Vendredi matin, on visite les principaux monuments de la ville en bus puis le Musée de l'Ermitage l'après-midi. Magnifique musée contenant des sarcophages égyptiens, des peintures (trop !!) d'un peu partout en Europe et une exposition sur la Sibérie.

Friday morning, visit of the main monuments of the city and of the State Hermitage Museum the afternoon. Beautiful museum containing egyptian sarcophagus, paints (too many !!) of the whole Europe and an exhibition about Siberia.

 

Le soir, on visite la ville de nuit en bateau avec du champagne soviet...ça mérite même pas l'appelation mousseux !

The night we travel through the city by night and by boat with sovit champagne...it's really not good !

Samedi est le meilleur jour puisqu'on se rend au village des Tsars, Pouchkine, qui se situent à 30 km de la ville. Au programme, visite du Palais de Catherine et de son parc.
C'est rempli d'or, de l'or sur les murs, sur les portes, au plafond...partout ! Y'en a tellement qu'à la fin on en a marre d'être agressé visuellement.
Le parc est également très beau surtout avec un soleil éclatant et le décor automnal.

Saturday is the best day as we went to the Village of the Tsars, Pushkin, which is 30 km far away from the city. Visit of the Catherine's Palace and its park.

It's really full of gold, on the wall, the doors, the roof...everywhere ! There is so much that it attack your eyes.

The park is very nice too especially with the sun light and the autumn.

Retour à Saint-Peteresbourg pour mettre les pieds dans une cathédrale orthodoxe et voir un point de vue sur la ville.

Back to Sankt-Petersburg  to visit a orthodox cathedral and a panorama of the city.

Dimanche matin, il fait moche mais c'est pas très grave puisque c'est le dernier jour et que l'on part à 15H. J'en profite pour visiter quelques endroits non touristiques de la ville qui me font penser à l'URSS !

Sunday morning, the weather is bad but it doesn't matter as it's the last day and we leave at 3 p.m. I go to the other side of the city, i.e. places where tourist usually don't go,  and I had though I was in USSR !
